CBSE Exam Calendar 2026 Released: Important Dates for Secondary and Senior Secondary Students

The CBSE Board has officially confirmed the examination timeline for Class 10 (Secondary) and Class 12 (Senior Secondary) students for the 2026 academic session, bringing much-needed clarity for lakhs of students across India and overseas. As per the announced schedule, the theory examinations for both classes will commence from 17 February 2026. These exams are conducted annually in offline mode at designated examination centers under strict guidelines to ensure fairness and transparency.

For Class 10 students, the board exams will be spread over several weeks, with most papers concluding by early to mid-March 2026. Subjects like English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science have been arranged with sufficient gaps between exams so that students can revise properly without excessive pressure. Elective and skill-based subjects are scheduled separately according to the official timetable released by CBSE.

In the case of Class 12, the examination period is longer due to the wider range of subjects offered across Science, Commerce, and Humanities streams. The Class 12 board exams will run from 17 February to 10 April 2026. Important subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Accountancy, Economics, and Business Studies are carefully spaced to allow students adequate preparation time. CBSE has also adjusted certain subject dates to avoid clashes and ensure smoother exam conduct.

Practical examinations and internal assessments for senior secondary students are scheduled to be completed before the start of theory papers. Overall, the board has aimed to design a balanced and student-friendly exam schedule, giving candidates enough time to prepare and perform confidently in one of the most crucial academic stages of their lives.
